Wendy Newton report 2019
Head of Children & Young People -
Wendy introduced an important and often forgotten element of education through the PE and Sort funding Programme. The vision is that all pupils leaving primary school will be physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation nec- essary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport. The objective is that of achieving self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools.
Schools must use the funding to make addi- tional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sport you offer. This means that you should use the premium to develop or add to the PE and sport activities that your school already offers. Build capacity and capa- bility within the school to ensure that improve- ments made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years.
